Leonard Benjamin Smith - age 67 of Lake, passed away on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at Mid-Michigan Medical Center in Midland. Leonard was born on June 14, 1949 in Lansing Michigan to parents Irvin B. and Cora Louise (Green) Smith. Leonard proudly and courageously served our country with the United States Marine Corp out of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina serving in Viet Nam. He was highly decorated with a National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal with stars; Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device; a Presidential Unit Citation, and a Good Conduct Medal. Upon his return to private life he was married to Constance Hudson on August 16, 1969 in Lansing, Michigan. Together they raised two beautiful daughters, and became self employed.H spent his life building cars and racing custom street cars. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Constance, two daughters; Jana McCabe and husband Eric of Lansing, Shawn McGowan and husband Scott , four grandchildren; Brendyn & Kyleigh McCabe, Brandyn McCabe and Jessica Young, Amber Smith and Jeff Fahnestock, andJason Smith. He had three great-children; Jayden, Sophia and Bryson. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers Irvin, Michael, James, John, and sister Susan. Leonard's wishes were to be cremated.
