The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Richard Gatt can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Condolence: We were deeply saddened and shocked by Rick's death. It's so hard to believe that just hours before we were with him watching the Michigan/Michigan State game. Rick was a great neighbor to us at the cottage and was always there to lend a helping hand. He will be greatly missed. Our deepest sympathy to Anne Marie and the Gatt family.

Condolence: I had the privilege of working with Rick for four and a half years at GM. When I arrived at GM he became my unofficial mentor and showed me the ropes of the business. It was not only in this time that I was able to have such a great mentor, but in the process gained a good friend. He was someone you could confide in and trust for a straight forward answer, something you don’t see a lot in this day and age. He will not only be missed for his work ethic, but will also be missed for some of his famous one line sayings and on occasion getting him to laugh until he was crying. I, like some other co-workers, was invited up to Rick’s and Anne Maries Lake House. They were the most hospitable host and provided nothing less than the best. He will be truly missed. Rest in Peace my friend.

Condolence: Rick invited my family up to his cottage a few summers ago, my boys had a great time and enjoyed the company of both Rick and Ann Marie. They were gracious hosts, and I guess my boys must have behaved fairly well because Rick made a point of inviting me to return multiple times in the years following. Rick was smart as a whip, and when he was considering a transfer to our group here at GM I did my best to encourage him, as I knew his knowledge and fastidiousness would be a great asset to us. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him.
