Doris Fay Swanson- age 82 of Farwell, passed away on Monday, December 26th, 2016 at Mid-Michigan Medical Center in Midland. Doris was born to parents Isaac and Mabel (Taylor) Elenbaas on January 13, 1934 in Richland Township, Michigan. Doris was wed to Lyle Robert Swanson on November 19, 1954 in Cadillac and together they raised two sons. Doris was proud of her family and her greatest passion was caring for her husband Lyle, her sons, and grandchildren. She was selfless, always putting others needs before her own. Doris was a dedicated pianist and organist both for her church and at home. She held on tight to traditions, and loved gardening, watching sports on television, bird-watching, and mowing the lawn. She was unbelievably lucky with scratch-off lottery tickets! Doris will be greatly missed by her husband of 62 years, Lyle, her son, Timothy Edwin Swanson and wife Jennifer of Mt. Pleasant, five grandchildren; Timothy H. Swanson, Nikki (Cori) Wofgang, Jenn (Travis) Roth, Joe (Shannon) Swanson, Alex Swanson, nine great-grandchildren, a brother Ron and wife Sue Elenbaas, a sister, Marion and husband Duke Longstreet, and daughter-in-law Candy Swanson of Farwell. She was preceded in death by her son Fredrick Lyle Swanson, Debra Faye Elenbaas and Russ Elenbaas. A funeral service is planned for Saturday, December 31, 2016 at 11AM at the Campbell-Stocking Funeral Home in Farwell. Pastor Bill Twynham will officiate with her final resting place in Surrey Township Cemetery. Friends and family may visit on Friday at the Funeral Home from 3PM until 8PM.
