Phillip Jason Payne- age 82 of Lake, passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Mid-Michigan Medical Center in Midland. Phillip was born on December 20th, 1934 in Columbus Ohio to parents Willis J. and Louise Enid (Whalen) Payne. He married Evelyn Louise Barlow on December 31, 1952 in Royal Oak, Michigan and together they raised five children. Phillip was a Charter Member of Northwood Baptist Church in Royal Oak where he was instrumental in helping to build. He loved to fish, hunt, camp, and work with wood, but was most devoted to serving with the Gideons and serving his Lord at his church, the First Baptist Church of Clare. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 64 years, Evelyn, his son Russell Payne of Madison Heights, three daughters; Carol Kindred of Clinton Twp., Gale Payne of Hazel Park, Arlene Turbin and husband James of Dearborn Heights, six grandchildren; Gene, Angela, Jason (Tracy), Jennifer (Bryan), Kate, Kenny, and ten great-grandchildren; Tyler, Karise, Deven, Jessie, Maddison, Jason, Haley, Nathan, Andrew, and Emma. He is also survived by two great-great-grandchildren, Ayden, and Skylar. Phillip was preceded in death by a daughter Mary, in 2003. A service is planned for Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 12PM at the First Baptist Church of Clare. Rev. Doug Blackwell will preside with burial in Surrey Township Cemetery in Farwell. Friends and family may visit on Friday, April 21, 2017 from 2 until 8PM at the Campbell-Stocking Funeral Home in Farwell. Visitation will also take place at the church on Saturday from 11AM until the time of service at 12PM.
