Catherine Margaret (Kube) Orton- age 91 passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at her home at Country Care Assisted Living in Farwell. Catherine was born on July 28, 1926 in Farwell, MI to parents Arthur and Cecil (Lockwood) Kube. She was a graduate of Farwell High School. After graduation she was married to Ernie Orton on June 1, 1945 in Flint, MI. She and Ernie raised two daughters and a son, and along with Ernie she owned and operated the Foodliner grocery store in Evart for many years. She loved quilting, antiques, gardening and making "Rag-Rugs". Catherine had a special place in her heart for her farm and especially for her chickens. She is survived by her son Doug Orton and wife Janet of Lansing, two daughters; Vickie Purvis and husband Dave of McBain, NaDene Robison and husband Chuck of Lake, two brothers; Robert Kube and wife Helen of Farwell, Jim Kube and wife Kay of Bay City, two sisters; Alice Patras and husband Leroy Campbell of Gladwin, Helen Schmid of Missouri, ten grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. A funeral service is scheduled for Thursday, November 30, 2017 at 1PM at the Campbell-Stocking Funeral Home in Farwell. Pastor Scott Farrell of the Calvary Baptist Church in Evart will officiate.
