William Thomas Recker- age 92 of Farwell, passed away at his home on Five Lakes on Wednesday, December 06, 2017. William was born on November 16, 1925 in Detroit, MI to parents William J. and Edna A. (Affelt) Recker. William attended Walsh Institute of Finance and Business Law and received an Associate’s Degree from Henry Ford Community College. He was also awarded a Certificate of Professional Management from Ford Motor Co. He was employed with Ford Motor Company’s Engineering Division, retiring in May 1983 after 36 years of service at the age of 59. After retirement he moved to the Clare area and joined the Clare Moose Lodge in September of 1987. He served as treasurer, governor and administrator. William received his Legion Degree in April 1990 and Fellowship Degree in May 1993. In May 2000 he received the highest honor of the Moose Fraternity, the Pilgrim Degree of Merit. William loved to golf, bowl and fish. He is survived by his wife Betty of 15 years, his son Bruce of Detroit, two grandchildren Stephanie Sitler (Steve), and Erin Wysocki (Matt), five great-grandchildren; Emily, Connor, Ryan, Reid, Mitchell, two step-sons; Charles Wentworth of Grand Rapids, John Wentworth of Flint, four step-daughters; Kathy Thomas and husband Lionel of Traverse City, Christy Hawley and husband Tim of Commerce Twp., Mary VanHove and husband Steve of Akron, MI, Judy Younger and husband Bill of Shepard, and many step-grandchildren. A funeral is planned for Friday, December 8, 2017 at 11AM at the Campbell-Stocking Funeral Home in Farwell. Chaplain Daryl Amrozowicz of Heartland Hospice will officiate with final resting place in Cherry Grove Cemetery in Clare. Family and friends may visit on Thursday December 7th from 4 to 8PM. An honorary funeral rites service will take place under the direction of the Loyal Order of the Moose at 7PM.
