Obituary for Ronald Eugene "Ron" Snover

Ronald Eugene Snover, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and a friend to many, went to be with our Lord on January 19th, 2018, after battling illness for the past few years.
Ron was the fifth child born to Robert and Bernice (Kilbreath) Snover on April 16, 1939 in Groveland Township, Oakland County. Ron graduated from Farwell High School, class of 1959. After graduation, Ron joined the Army, stationed first in Alaska, and then Kentucky. He was a driver and a mechanic, as well as doing a little KP duty and received an Honorable discharge in 1965.
Over the years Ron worked numerous jobs, always providing for his family. In 1986 he started his own business, Ron’s Excavating, with his wife Lucy. He was a former member of the Eagles Club, Boosters Club in Lake George and was a lifetime member of the 20 Lakes Tractor Club in Harrison. He was also a volunteer fire fighter for the Lincoln Township Fire Department for several years.
Ron enjoyed hunting, ice fishing, going to tractor shows and swap meets, tinkering on tractors, as well as spending time with his family and friends. He was also a jokester, always ready with a smart-aleck response to any situation.
Ron is survived by his wife Lucy of Lake George, Sons Richard (Connie) Snover of Charlotte and Joseph (Jennifer) Snover of Lake George and daughters Shellie (Tim) Haggart of Coleman and Ronda Jean (Jack) of Lansing. He also leaves behind grandchildren, Brian, Sarah, Jake, Michael, Dylan, Jessie, Brandon, Katie, Zach, Tyler, Ali, Keegan, Nolan, Nichole, Ashly, and Pam; Also, great-grandchildren, Kaylynn, Oliver, Odin, Alexandra, and Allison. Ron also leaves behind brothers, Robert of Arkansas, Sam of Farwell, and Joe of Texas, and sisters Betty Giddings of Vassar and Marilyn (Charles) of Snover,
Ron was pre-deceased by his parents, two sons, Ralph (Mike) and Brian, grandson Dustin Jean, sisters Barb Phenix and Elaine Searles, and brother David Snover, as well as a few nephews.
Ron will be missed dearly by his family. His struggle is over, but ours has just begun, adjusting to life without him.
Funeral services for Ron will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at Campbell Stocking Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Peter Gellatt will officiate with military services following. Visitation with the family will be held from 4 to 8 PM on Tuesday and from 10 to 11 AM prior to the service on Wednesday.
