James Junior Martin- age 68 of Farwell, passed away at his home on Thursday, August 16, 2018. James was born on January 15, 1950 in Edmore, Michigan to parents James Frank, Jr. and Thelma Ilene (Loveland) Martin. He proudly served with the United States Army from Nov. 1969 until Nov. 1975 and received a National Defense Service Medal and was an M14 Expert. On October 30, 1971 he was married to Joni May Leatz in Leaton, MI. Together they raised two children and adopted many more, who became extended family. He worked as an oil rigger and enjoyed hunting. He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Joni, son Christopher James Martin and wife Barbara of Lake, daughter Misty Ann Tanner and husband James of Midland, many adopted children, nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, brothers Howard Cyphert and wife Sue of Vestaburg, Edward Cyphert and wife Jeannie of Arizona, Jimmy Martin and wife Sue of Kalkaska, Willis Martin of Blanchard, sisters Mary Monroe of Weidman, and Judy Wohlscheid and husband Edward of Texas. He was preceded in death by his brothers Fred and Terry Cyphert. A Celebration of Life is being planned for September 8th, 2018 at 11AM at the Clare Assembly of God with Pastor Scott Harper officiating and a luncheon to follow.
