Obituary for Joyce Claudine Laverty (Bailey)

Joyce Claudine Laverty- age 83 of Farwell, passed away on Wednesday, October 10, 2018surrounded by her family and loved ones at Prestige Place in Clare. Joyce was born on November 18, 1934 to parents Claude C. and Olive Florence (Button) Bailey in Rosebush Michigan. Joyce graduated High School from Farwell in 1953. Soon after she was married to Dale Laverty on Aug. 25, 1953 at the Farwell United Methodist Church and began their 65 wonderful years together raising four children. Joyce liked to garden, sew, knit, camp, ride 4 wheelers, shop, and travel. She enjoyed exploring such faraway places as Florida, China, and Russia, and many more places until she became ill. She was a member of the Farwell Methodist Church as well as the United Methodist Women. Most of all she loved doting on and spoiling her grandchildren. She was involved with the Jaycees, and Red Hat ladies. Life with Joyce was lively, full of love, enthusiasm, and joy. She was adored by her family and our world will be a bit dimmer with her gone. She will be dearly missed by her husband Dale Laverty, her children; Joel and wife Christine of Clare, Darcy and wife Francee of Arrington Virginia, Stacey and wife Tracey of Farwell, JoDee Hacker and husband Dennis of Whitmore Lake, eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild, a brother Bruce and wife Kim Bailey of Rosebush and sister Janet Tiedeman and husband Don of Holly. She was preceded in death by her parents. A funeral service is planned for Saturday, October 13, 2018, 11AM at the Campbell-Stocking Funeral Home in Farwell. Pastor Marty Cobb will co-officiate with Rev. Brandi Bailie. Joyce will be laid to rest in Gilmore Township Cemetery. Family and friends may visit on Friday from 4 until 8PM.
