Roberta Mary Smedley- passed away at the age of 90, at the Mid Michigan Medical Center in Midland, lovingly surrounded by her family. Roberta was born on March 20th, 1928 in Wyandotte, Michigan. Her parents were John and Ida Jane (Larkins) Bauer. Roberta completed her education through college, followed by various secretarial positions over the years. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority while in College at Central Michigan University. She was married on August 18, 1951 to William Henry Smedley and together they raised two beautiful daughters. She loved watching television and movies, walking, gardening, shopping, dining out, and was known to be quite a "card shark" at playing cards. She enjoyed her involvement as a member of the Farwell United Methodist Church. She will be sadly missed by her daughters Shevonne Wood and husband Mike, and Pamela Smedley, both of Farwell, seven grandchildren; Adam (Jen) Smith, Ryan (Hannah) Smith, Matthew (Niki) Smith, Joey (Jen) Tomaski, Josh Tomaski, Danielle (Corey) Cotton, Heather Fournier, and nine great-grandchildren; Savannah, Audrey, Mason, Emmy, Aubrey, Brady, Willow, Grayson, and Madison, and many more family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband William Henry Smedley and by her brother, Ronald James Bauer. A funeral service is planned for Monday, November 19th, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Campbell-Stocking Funeral Home in Farwell. Pastor Tim Fall will officiate with burial in Surrey Township Cemetery. Family and friends may visit on Sunday from 4 until 8PM. Please consider memorial contributions to the Disabled American Veterans Memorial Program.
