Obituary for Myrtle Luella Friese

Myrtle Luella Friese – Age 101, passed away at her family farm in Surrey Township on Saturday, December 1, 2018. She was born at the family farm on August 14, 1917, the daughter of Lewis M. and Lessie May (Lewis) in Farwell. Myrtle graduated from Farwell High School and then continued her education, graduating from Grace Hospital in Detroit with her Nursing Degree. She married Earl Warner Friese in 1940 in Farwell. Earl and Myrtle were an adventurous couple, enjoying flying in Earl’s airplane on their first date, and later their many hunting and fishing trips to their wilderness property in Canada. Myrtle retired from the Michigan State Home in Mt. Pleasant and was a member of Farwell United Methodist Church.
Surviving are two sons: Earl W. Friese, Jr. of Farwell, Keith Friese and Hallie of Middleville; two grandchildren: Randy and wife Heather Friese of Frisco, TX, Holly and husband Jason Chick of Sapphire, NC; five great-grandchildren: Adelyn Marie Friese, Jacob Friese, Joshua Friese, Hayden Chick, and Harrison Chick. Myrtle was preceded in death by her husband Earl Friese on February 14, 2002; siblings Howard Lewis Frizzell, Esther Belle Frizzell, Clara Belle Frizzell (Hillard), Alfred Jerome Frizzell, Jennie Margaret Frizzell (Hamady), Ward Chester Frizzell, Esther Estella Frizzell (Grief), Ford Dale Frizzell, and Emma Adelaide Frizzell (Miller).
As per Myrtle’s wish, cremation has taken place. Her final resting place will be in Surrey Township Cemetery. A Celebration of Mrytles' life will be held at 11AM on Saturday February 16th. at the Farwell United Methodist Church. 281 E. Ohio Street. A luncheon will follow.
