Shirley Ann Bonham, age 80, of Clare, passed away at Horizons Living Center on Tuesday, November 17, 2015. Shirley was born the only child of Dale and Tessie (Dubois) Reynolds on May 13, 1935. She married Rodger Bonham on April 25, 1952. Shirley was a lifelong resident of the Farwell and Clare area, and was a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star, serving as Worthy Matron, Secretary and other offices, as well as a member of the Grand Family of Michigan in 1981-82. Her music as a pianist always added a spring to the step. As a Blue Star Mother, one of her happiest memories was the day she shook hands with then President, Bill Clinton, while in Washington DC.. She loved her Boston Terriers over the years—Mickie, Nickie and Popeye—and her little rat dog, Chico.
Survivors include her four children, Kay (Ken) Bowen, Bob (Sally) Bonham, Steven (Betty) Bonham, Randy (Clarissa) Bonham. Shirley had six grandchildren, Dale (Nina) Bowen, Robert (Nicole) Bowen, Amy (Eric) Zeigler, Weslie (Jason) Smith, Marshall (Ashley) Bonham, Kendra (Alan) Mosher, two step grandchildren; Jesse Chaffee and Vanessa Sprague, Cody (Kedra) Chaffee, and thirteen great-grandchildren; Hannah and Lilly Bowen, Caleb, Skylar and Kandace Bowen, Tessa and Wyatt Zeigler, Carter, Hudson and Brody Smith, Ava and Emersyn Bonham and Ashlyn Mosher. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Rodger, and a very special friend, Curtis Bargo.
A Memorial Service will be held beginning at 3 PM on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 with an Eastern Star service followed by Elder Bob Pagels at 3:15 PM. Friends may visit with the family prior to the services from 2 PM until the time of service. Memorial contributions can be made to Mid-Michigan Hospice.
