Dianne Kay Sweet - age 64 passed away peacefully while surrounded by her loving family, on Sunday, April 24, 2016 at her home in Farwell. She was born to parents Bernard Lee and Ida Elaine (Bentley) Glass on June 6, 1951, in Flint, Michigan. Dianne worked as a medical assistant for Dr. Pavone in Flint and Dr. Keislling in Jackson. Dianne earned her nursing degree from Mid-Michigan Community College and then worked as a Registered Nurse retiring from Clare Hospital. She also worked for North Woods Nursing Center and Dr. Jennings. Dianne was instrumental in organizing the certification of medical assistants program for the State of Michigan. Dianne was a very active member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter # 129 and the Grand Chapter of the Eastern Star; where she held several local and state offices. She was a member of the Farwell United Methodist Church where she served on many committees as well as the United Methodist Women. Dianne was well known for “spear-heading” the church’s community Swiss Steak Dinner, which has continued to be very popular in Farwell, bringing in folks from many neighboring communities.
Dianne is survived by two brothers: Douglas Glass and wife Doris of Freeport, IL and Thomas Glass and wife Karen of St. Johns, MI; three sisters: Susan Loranger and husband Dennis of Zephyr Hills, FL, Denise Horswill of Midland, and Gail Gorman and husband Ronald of Gladwin; four nephews: Darrin (Lisa) Glass, Joseph (Sara) Gorman, Matthew (Katy) Gorman, and Michael (Dayna) Gorman; six nieces: Christina Chapman, Erica (Andrew) Wolfe, Kaylynn (Sebastian) Scott, Amy (Robert) Samborn, Kathy (Mike) Mrozinski, and Katie Gorman(Ryan Lampman); fifteen grand-nieces and nephews; her aunt, Ruth Ann and husband Dennis Wissinger and their daughters Lisa Scott and Leanne Gribik; and numerous other relatives and friends. Dianne was preceded in death by her parents and a nephew, Aaron Glass in 2005. Dianne’s family would like to say a “special thank you” to Bella Senior Care and to MidMichigan Home Care and Hospice for the care and support that they provided.
Funeral Services for Dianne will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at Campbell Stocking Funeral Home, Farwell. Pastor Jane Ellen Johnson will officiate with burial following in Surrey Township Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2–4 PM and 6-8 PM; The OES will conduct a memorial service at 7 PM and visitation also on Wednesday from 9:30 AM until the time of service. Memorial contributions in Dianne’s name may be considered to the Farwell United Methodist Church or the Ovarian Cancer Society.
