Ida Mary Foor- age 104 years young passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at North Woods Nursing Center in Farwell. Ida was born on February 14, 1912, one of six children to parents Alexander and Grace (Gilman) Ashley in Tecumseh Michigan. Ida was a High School graduate with the Class of 1931 from Clare High School. Ida’s parents were homesteaders moving from Tecumseh, and Ida has seen and lived through a great deal in her 104 years. She was a fiercely independent and confident woman, and could be seen painting her home and washing windows well into her 90’s. She was best known for her phenomenal pies, especially her lemon meringue pie. She was very organized and would have ingredients pre-measured for 50 pies at a time. She could work circles around most people, and could even be seen up on her roof checking things out, from time to time. She is survived by her nephew Michael Ashley and his wife Cheryl who have taken loving care of her for many years. She is also survived by Grandson Rob King of OH, granddaughter Tammy Everetts of OH, seven great- grandchildren, six great –great grandchildren, son-in-law Eugene Tibbs of OH, several nieces, and nephews, and special friends Mary Jane Evans and Amy Dysinger. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and siblings, and daughter Elaine Tibbs. A funeral was held on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 1PM at the Campbell-Stocking Funeral Home in Farwell. Pastor Jim Young officiated. Friends and family may visit on Friday from 5 to 8PM.
